The last three weeks had been very challenging as COVID-19 hit my home front.
- I wasn’t prepared enough for COVID-19, despite my active engagement in COVID planning at my workplace since early 2020 as MD.
- During isolation, I struggled to motivate my healthy kids to “school from home” and avoid the distractions from blue screens.
- I worked from home and remained on medical on-call for some days even though I was sick, due to a staff shortage in my hospital.
- But, I had to give up virtual Teams meetings owing to my gravelly voice, irritating dry cough and sore throat.
- Due to lingering symptoms, the Public Health authorities extended my isolation period beyond the “standard” 7 days.
- My caring wife and regular exercise in my home gym kept me going.
- My workmates also helped by supplying us with facemasks and COVID testing kits.
